Our wines get all the freedom they need to unfold the details of their character
The Pittnauers have their vineyards and winery in Gols, a small town on Lake Neusiedl in the Burgenland wine region of Austria. Gerhard inherited the vineyard at only 18 years old when his father died unexpectedly, and took somewhat of an experimental approach with no set winemaking philosophy in the beginning. What he learned along the way, though, was that his favorite wines to drink all had one thing in common: biodynamics. After having figured this out, Gerhard and Brigitte adopted this approach to winemaking in 2006, doing all work in the vineyards manually, and not conforming to a calendar but instead letting the grapes and winemaking take their time, resulting in what they call ‘living wine’.
Also in 2007, together with other winemakers, the Pittnauers co-founded 'Respect', an international group of leading biodynamic wineries.
The Pittnauers focus on manual work in the vineyards, limiting yields, to ensure in the healthiest grapes possible. In the cellar, they refrain from using enzymes, pure yeasts and excessive use of wood in their wines.

As pioneers of the natural wine movement, Gerhard and Brigitte Pittnauer produce wines that are a genuine expression of their vineyard’s terroir. Embracing organic and biodynamic practices resulting in healthier and more flavourful fruit. With minimal intervention in the cellar, their wines undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, preserving authenticity. Their wines show an

amazing balance between exotic aromas and great minerality on their white and orange wines. The red wines are balanced with the right amount of fruit, tannins and not too much acidity.

PERFECT DAY
ALCOHOL: 11.5 % VOL. RESIDUAL SUGAR: 1,3 G/L RS DRY ACIDITY: 4,9 G/L TBS
60% Muskat Ottonel, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Grüner Veltliner, 5% Traminer, 5% Sämling

drinking temperature: 10-12c

The Perfect Day is vibrant, subtle, vital and aromatic. Fine citrus notes, a floral undertone, but above all stony-mineral hints set an early exclamation mark, and yellow fruit aromas and herbal notes are added to the palate. The tannin is grippy but never superficial and, together with the well-integrated acidity, focuses the wine on the palate. The texture is delicate yet compact and tightly woven, the finish is stimulating and complex.

Tropical driven profile with extra notes of salt, lime and grapefruit peel. WE LOVE IT!

Beautiful wine with mild skin contact.
Several white grape varieties are used for his interpretation of a perfect day. They are expanded in different ways before merging into a perfect unit. Muskat Ottonel takes the lion's share here. Followed closely by Sauvignon Blanc and a small portion each of Yellow Muscat, Chardonnay and Traminer. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and further processed and fermented complete with the skins. Partly in the amphora, in the wooden barrel but also in the steel tank.
The result ends up in the bottle without filtration, sulfur or other frills.
In the glass it shines in a mystical orange tone that is clearly clouded, similar to naturally cloudy apple juice. The nose is immediately surrounded by exotic aromas such as grapefruit, cloudberry, orange peel, passion fruit and roses. There is a great freshness on the palate: a successful interplay of citrus and cloudberry aromas, and the refreshing, tart character of the tannins. The acidity is more in the background and nicely integrated, no trace of sugar... pure freshness!
The Pittnauer perfect day is a wine that should definitely be drunk well chilled from large glasses.
If it's a meal accompaniment, then like strong soul food, which would normally go well with a beer or red wine: Homemade burgers with sweet potato fries, beef bratwurst fresh from the grill.

ROSE DOGMA

ALCOHOL: 13% VOL. RESIDUAL SUGAR: 0,9G/L DRY ACIDITY: 7,1 G/L TBS
Dogma is Gerhard Pittnauer's wine line, in which he avoids everything, including the addition of sulphur, filtration and fining of any kind, in order to get the wine into the bottle as naturally as possible.
Already in the nose you can notice cool fruit, plums and currants, as well as mint, lavender and rosemary, developing rapidly and becoming more and more complex. On the palate with a firm grip, the tannin grabs hold, then immediately ethereal notes, lilac and lavender, plus a juicy plum and pithy pear,

Makes you want more with every sip.
We put whole bunches of grapes, including stalk, into closed 1000-liter barrels for five days.
Without the influence of yeasts, an intracellular fermentation begins before the actual fermentation, during which various ingredients are potentiated in comparison to normal fermentation. The result is a lighter, more delicate and finely structured wine, which is open and
accessible early on and has extremely delicate tannins.

Currants, raspberries and pomegranate characterize the aroma profile. These are not notes typical of Blaufränkisch, but they are not intended in Best Friend. Rather, the aim is to explore alternative characteristics of the variety. The texture and structure on the palate break new ground and are bright, lively and spirited.
